Biography

Dr. Kanchan Chandan Mehra is an accomplished academician, cultural-linguistic expert, and peacebuilder with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and social advocacy. Holding a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Mehra specializes in qualitative research methodologies, with a focus on gender, social exclusion, and inclusive policy studies. A certified mindfulness practitioner and advocate for human and gender rights, she works at the intersection of education, leadership, and peacebuilding to foster sustainable social change.

Proficient in English, Hindi, and Punjabi—and a learner of Urdu—she has contributed as a cultural-linguistic expert to global initiatives, including Google’s cultural research projects. As State Coordinator and Gender Consultant with the Voluntary Health Association of Punjab and Director of Global Initiatives at the Sandhara Centre, Colombo, she integrates community-based research with international collaboration.

Her publications include Women and Religion: A Way Forward to New Dawn in Peacemaking (2020), Dialogue for Women’s Agency and Leadership (2025), and Shrieks of the Unborn (2011). Dr. Mehra’s research foregrounds women’s leadership, peacebuilding, human rights, and the empowerment of marginalized communities—reflecting her lifelong commitment to building inclusive and equitable futures.
